Fabienne Belnou, under the gold of the Grand Duchy
Fabienne Belnou's phrasing is calm and elegant, the words chosen to tell us about the rhythm of her days (and perhaps even her nights) in Luxembourg. She arrived in 1987 in the Grand Duchy, where she made a name for herself in the world of jewellery creation. Back on a journey combining work and patience.
Fabienne, tell us about your beginnings.
When I arrived in Luxembourg, I started by associating myself with another jewellery designer. After eight years, I chose to take off. I registered my brand - Fabienne Belnou - which is a Luxembourg brand since I have since been lucky enough to receive the label. In parallel to the creative work, I developed the production side of things. Our workshop is located on the mezzanine of the shop and it's a pleasure for the eyes as well as a very practical advantage (laughs).
How do you work?
I am surrounded by several collaborators, for creation, production and sales. From our boutique, we have a view of the workshop and the four workbenches on which all our jewellery is designed and created, a meticulous work combining ancestral techniques and the possibilities offered by technical progress. Our pieces are unique and handmade. For the past two years, I have been fortunate enough to have my daughter Charlotte by my side in this adventure. Her vision is dynamic and she encourages me to see beyond borders, which I am already doing since I have the honour of collaborating with the creator of a prestigious clothing brand in Seoul. We take great pleasure in promoting each other's creations that harmonize divinely.
What does the Wortshop mean to you?
I am pleased to be able to propose the line declined around symbols of the Grand Duchy. This collection has been imagined for all lovers of the country, men or women of all ages, as we have designed bracelets, necklaces, earrings and other cufflinks. I like the idea that this timeless collection celebrates my more than thirty years of living here and my Luxembourg nationality (smiles).
